<![CDATA[Stuff]]>Wed, 04 Dec 2013 19:00:28 GMThttp://whereforemusic.com/blog/stuffI added a "Stuff" bar on the menu. This is a new foray into providing you with something other than just sheet music. The first item is a tee with my favorite quote from Charles Ives: "Take your dissonance like a man."

<![CDATA[Christmas Already?]]>Sat, 03 Aug 2013 01:48:37 GMThttp://whereforemusic.com/blog/christmas-alreadyI know that it's only August and that Christmas is a whole four months away. (Only four months? Really?) Anyway, I am very excited to have four Christmas string quartet arrangements available now through Why & Wherefore Music!
    Silent Night
    Oh Come All Ye Faithful
It Came Upon A Midnight Clear
Angels We Have Heard On High
These arrangements were previously published by Broschinsky Music, but now are newly edited and available only through Why & Wherefore.

I also have an SATB and Piano arrangement available of O Come, O Come, EmmanuelI never knew that there were so many different English translations of this carol until I tried to arrange it. I ended up picking my four favorite verses from various versions.

Here's what you need to do.
1: Follow the links on each of the songs.
2: Preview the score and listen to the amazing sounds of the "moderately cheap midi quartet"
3: Leave a review and share with all your friends, especially those that like to do Christmas gigs every year.

<![CDATA[First post: what's to come]]>Mon, 08 Jul 2013 03:46:17 GMThttp://whereforemusic.com/blog/first-post-whats-to-comeThis is Steve Voorhees from Why & Wherefore Music. We are excited for our big debut this year providing quality arrangements for a variety of ensembles and occasions. Let me fill you in on some of the details about where we are and what's still to come. As of today there are a whopping TWO pieces in our catalog. Yes, we are starting off strong! But don't worry, there are several string quartets Christmas arrangements, with versions for string orchestra coming soon.

We started with a very small budget, so a large inventory of printed music ready to ship is impossible. JW Pepper has a great print-on-demand service that we have taken advantage of for now while we get things rolling. We did have a short run of O Come, O Come Emmanuel for SATB and piano printed by Alexander's Print Advantage in Lindon, Utah. 66 of these were already purchased last weekend at Day Murray Music in Murray, Utah! Who buys Christmas music in June? Apparently there are some well-prepared choral directors out there.
